Sarah Cleeland Mediations was a recent major sponsor of the annual Family Law Practitioners Association (‘FLPA’) Conference in June 2024.  FLPA is one of Queensland’s leading professional bodies representing almost 1,000 family law practitioners.  Sarah, Kathryn, and Gaye were part of the two-day conference, with exceptional presentations from members of the judiciary (Judges and Senior Judicial Registrars), fellow Solicitors and Barristers, and leading Social Scientists.

Laura Buchanan has recently joined Sarah Cleeland Family Lawyers as a Senior Family Law Solicitor.  Laura has a broad range of experience in Family Law, and a background in residential and commercial real estate. Welcome Laura!

Matt Stimpson has recently been promoted to Special Counsel, in recognition of his experience and expertise.  Congratulations Matt!

Matt has also recently completed his training in Collaborative Practice.

Kathryn McLoughlin has recently been promoted to Senior Associate, in recognition of her hard work, dedication and commitment to her clients and the firm.  Well done Kathryn!

Kathryn has also recently completed her training as an Independent Children’s Lawyer, and has been recommended to join the panel of Independent Children’s Lawyers in Queensland.

Kathryn will shortly be undertaking further training in Parenting Coordination, and thereafter our office will have three Parenting Coordinators available.

Sarah and Kathryn recently walked in the Epic Walk for DV on 24 March 2024 to help raise money and awareness in support of victims impacted by Domestic Violence. Sarah and Kathryn raised $2,272 in their efforts.

Sarah has now recently completed her training as a Coach in Collaborative Practice and can now assist parties and their legal representatives in collaborative matters in the role of coach.

We are pleased to announce that we have expanded our Mediation practice and both Sarah and Shelby are now offering Mediations as Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners in property settlements, parenting disputes, child support disputes and child inclusive Mediations.

We are thrilled to be named again as one of Brisbane Best Lawyers 2023.

Our Senior Family Lawyer, Ms Kathryn McLoughlin has joined her colleague, and our Senior Family Law Associate, Ms Shelby MacDonald in commencing volunteering at Women’s Legal Service. We are proud to be associated with such an important service.

We are pleased to have recently made a donation to Coles Appeal to raise funds for Hummingbird House, which is Queensland’s only children’s hospice and provides specialised Paediatric Palliative Care Services to babies, children and young people.

Ms Cleeland was excited and honoured recently to present a Family Dispute Resolution presentation to the Family Law Education Network on 11 September 2023.
